The Opening Event for the re-imagined Institute of the Marginal and Imaginary Regions is taking place NOW in the Library of the IMIR.
The room of a party that no one attends remains steeped in expectation and anticipation without end. We stand between events. Imagination is prominent, yet a paradoxical stillness prevails. What will happen next?
As expected, it has been quiet, though the event is attended by one apparition in the first image, and another in the second. Mot thinks the first apparition may arise from the serendipitous timing of our event on the day of the One-Hundredth Birthday of Joseph Beuys. The second apparition, a series of red balloons just below the ceiling, may be personal to me. However, we are not certain what these apparitions correlate with.
While we would love to have visitors, we also enjoy the sense of anticipation we have created. We are joyful and welcoming. The Orphan’s Lamp and the Moon Lamp have been brought to the room just for tonight. We have left the Slate blank to celebrate the idea of multiple possibilities.
In the third image, we invite you in, for a closer look at our celebratory repast. On the front table is a pot of soup – now steaming – to which you can help yourself by ladling into a mug. Next to the mugs is a decorative lamp. On the second table, you will find some festive glasses and a pot of sparking water. If you prefer, this could also be tea. On this table, as an accent, we have placed a vase full of lights.
In the fourth image, you can see the Globe of the Library of the IMIR next to the serving tables.

To help us celebrate the Opening Event, you could:
Download an Imaginary Book and put it on a shelf. You will find it here (below and in a post titled “’Imaginary Book #1’ Download”) on the BLOG of the IMIR for the next week.
Pour yourself a real glass of water.
Make some soup and have it in a mug.
Send us a wave or other signal here in the comment box. We would love to know others are attending the event, even if we may not be able to see them.
Earlier in the evening, Mot announced the production of a reading video. He is expecting it to be available in about a week. I told him I look forward to seeing what he is up to.
